Intervening in a loud dispute
Brigitte : Do you see that man and woman over there? They're really going at it!
Andrew : Yeah, we could hear them from a block away. They seem really miserable together. I just hope it doesn't get any worse.
Brigitte : Andrew, it's none of our business, even if it does get worse. We can call the police, but that's it.
Andrew : That's not the way I raised, Brigitte. My dad told me if I ever saw a woman in danger, including a stranger, I was to help out any way I could.
Brigitte : I think he probably meant to help by calling the cops. There's no need for you to get hurt or arrested because of someone else's failed relationship.
Andrew : If it gets bad, it's no longer a failed relationship - it's a life and death situation. And I won't stand by and do nothing.
Brigitte : Well, it looks like you won't have to - the tide has turned! She just knocked him to the ground and is hitting him with her purse. What did your dad say to do in this kind of situation?
Andrew : I don't think he could have fathomed something like this!
Brigitte : I'm pretty sure your dad wouldn't approve of that. Hey, look, here come the police.
Andrew : Well, it looks like the show is over, thank god. But they're writing them both a ticket.
Brigitte : Serves them right! The whole neighborhood was disrupted because of them - look at the crowd of people over there.
