Driving home from college for thanksgiving break

Gwen : Damian, why are we heading toward the highway? I thought we agreed we would take Route 29 north to Hendersonville, then spend the last hour on the side roads.

Damian : Because I really don’t want to be on the road all day. Listen, we only have 5 days to spend at home for Thanksgiving, then it’s back to the grind.

Gwen : We go through this every time we get a break from school. I want to take the scenic route and you  want to take the highway. Then we sit on the highway in stop-and-go traffic for a few hours until you realize the back roads are faster.

Damian : Well, I heard on the news that most people aren't leaving until after 3 p.m. because they still have to go to work. So we got a head start.

Gwen : What happens when we get close to Richmond? It will be after 3 by then and the roads will become instantly clogged.

Damian : We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. I figure if I go a little over the speed limit, we should beat the traffic…

Gwen : …And get five speeding tickets along the way!

Damian : Okay, let’s head for the freeway now and if it’s crowded already, we’ll take the first exit and go the way you want.

Gwen : Well, the exit ramp is backed up, so that’s a bad sign. Are you ready to see some pretty scenery and cute little towns?

Damian : Yeah, I guess. But just don’t say what I think you’re going to say.

Gwen : You mean, “I told you so?” I wouldn't dream of it!
