"familiar"

familiar은 어떤 것이나 사람이 '친숙한, 많이 본 듯한, 와 본 듯한'이라는 뜻입니다. <familiar to 사람>은 그 사람이 '친숙하게 느껴지다'라는 말이고 <familiar with 사물/장소>라고 하면 사물이나 장소에 '익숙하다', 그럿을 '잘 알다'라는 말입니다. 예를 들어. That sounds familiar to me.는 '그거 나한테는 익숙하게 들리는데. 익숙한 얘기야. 많이 들어 본 얘기네.'와 같은 뜻이고, I'm not familiar with this area.는 '저는 이곳에 익숙하지 않아요.' 즉, '저는 이곳 지리를 잘 모릅니다.'라는 말입니다.
