Aaron : So, what do you think? Isn't it gorgeous? 

Kari : Well, it's nice, but we've seen so many old churches on our trip. I don't really see what sets it apart from St.Patrick's compared to the ones we saw in Cork and Limerick.

Aaron : I'll give you two reasons: my great grandparents were married in this church and St. Patrick himself was said to have baptized the Irish heathens on this site in the 5th century.

Kari : Do you mean the St. Patrick who supposedly drove all the snakes out of Ireland?

Aaron : The one and only! Now are you impressed?

Kari : Not as much by those two reasons as by that one over there! Look, it's a bust of Jonathan Swift, the writer of "Gulliver's Travels." It says on the plaque that he was the dean of the cathedral and is buried right here.

Aaron : This church has a surprising history, Kari. Look, it says Oliver Cromwell, the English military and political leader, used this cathedral as a stall for his horses! How terrible!

Kari : Okay, I must admit I'm starting to warm up to this place. This is way more fascinating than half the churches we saw in England, too.

Aaron : The sign outside said that the beautiful park adjacent to the church was a run-down slum until the early 1900s!

Kari : You wouldn't know it from looking at it. They've done a bang up job at maintaining this place.

Aaron : So, wouldn't it be a nice place for our wedding? I'm just saying..
