Max : Did you hear about Todd's latest harebrained idea?
Alice : Oh, you must be talking about his decision to major in art history at university next year. I think it's great.
Max : Great? He's going to be poor the rest of his life and living in our basement! How is that"great"?
Alice : Max, Todd is following his passion. Don't act like this is a bolt from the blue. He's always loved art and the stories of the great artists, so it's a perfect fit.
Max : Well, you'll eat your words when he asks to move back in after he graduates. If he graduates.
Alice : I'm just glad he's not here to hear you talking that way about him. You should be proud that someone in this family is following his passion.
Max : What's that supposed to mean? I followed my passion.
Alice : Your passion to work in an office shuffling papers all day? I'm talking about how you wanted to be a professional soccer player. You were really good, too.
Max : Yeah, I was. But then my father told me to get my head out of the clouds and think about my future, and....oh my gosh!
Alice : What's wrong? Did your past come back to haunt you, Max?
Max :I guess you could say that. When Todd gets home I'm going to congratulate him on his decision and I'm going to mean it.
