A budget Crisis

Marcus : Hey, Shauna, did you hear we get the next two weeks off! Isn't that great?

Shauna : No, it's terrible! Don't you know we aren't getting paid while we're off? The stupid political parties can't agree on a budget, so we're the ones who are getting punished.

Marcus : Why were we chosen to be furloughed? That isn't fair.

Shauna : Face it, Marcus, we aren't considered essential personnel, like the military or the park police. To them, we're just faceless paper pushers.

Marcus : Well, we could go down to my parent's beach house for a few days and figure out a game plan for the future.

Shauna : I don't think this government job is as secure as I was made to believe it was. It might be time for Plan B. If your parent's house has wi-fi, I'm in.

Marcus : Even better - they have wi-fi all the way out on the dock, so we can update our resumes and job search profiles out by the water.

Shauna : Sounds great. Maybe being furloughed won't be so bad after all.

Marcus : I'm sure there are plenty of companies that would appreciate a couple of experienced paper pushers.

Shauna : Well, I'm going to leave work now pack my things. Let's meet at the grocery store in two hours for supplies and then drive down from there.

Marcus : Sounds great! I feel like I'm taking a leap of faith by even considering the private sector after so long in government, but I'm ready.
