Giving up Your Seat

Tom : Janet, why don't you give that old lady your seat? She looks really tired standing there.

Janet : How am I supposed to text my friends standing up? Someone else can give up there seat.

Tom : Do you hear yourself talking? I thought your parents raised you to respect your elders!

Janet : Well, I don't know her and I was here first, so why should I care?

Tom : That's pretty cold! Your grandmother might be on a train right now after spending hours grocery shopping and there could be someone just like you not giving her their seat for the exact same reason. How would that make you feel?

Janet : When you put it that way, it doesn't feel good at all. My grandmother is like a saint to me.

Tom : Well, that lady over there could be a saint to someone else. Why don't you make your grandmother proud and give that lady your sat?

Janet : Wow, you really know how to give a guilt trip. If it will make you shut up about it, I'll do it.

Tom : Don't drag your feet, we're getting off in three stations. Do it now or I might just tell your grandmother!

Janet : Fine... Excuse me, ma'am! Please, come sit over here. I'm getting off the train soon.

Tom : <whispers> Don't you feel really good about yourself now?
