White Day in Korea

[Power Dialog]

What are you doing tomorrow for White Day? You still have a girlfriend, right?

Yeah, since she got me a really nice bracelet for Valentine's Day. I'm taking Suvery out for a night on the town.

Wow, you've really bought into the whole "triple the value" rule, haven't you?

Yeah, I have. So, I'll have flowers delivered to her work tomorrow, then I'll pick her up in a limo for our date.

You are really in deep. I hope she's worth it.

I think she is. But even if we weren't meant for each other, we can have some fun while it lasts.

That's a good attitude to take. Still, I hope you don't get your heart - or bank account - broken.

[Power Note]

1. buy into something - to believe something unquestioningly

A: I just watched a video about how the earth is actually flat.

B: You're not going to buy into that nonsense, are you?

* My brother is skeptical and doesn't buy into new fads or ideas very easily.

2. in deep - seriously involved with someone or something

A: I need $1,000 right now. I'm kind of in deep with a loan shark and he's coming to collect.

B: Not again! I should let you deal with the consequences on your own.

* Look at Brian's face when he talks to Brie! He's in deep.

3. be meat for each other - to believe two people are fated to be together.

A: Look at that old couple holding hands. So much love after so many years.

B: Yeah, it's as if they were meant for each other. How lucky!

In Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet were truly meant for each other.

[Power Pattern & Vocabulary]

Still, I hope you don't...

Still, I hope you don't catch the flu.

Still, I hope you don't have to take the test a third time.

Still, I hope you don't need to take out a second loan for your house.
