Your Watermelons Are Just Too Expensive!
Shirley : Good morning, Chris. What have you got for me today?
Chris : I picked about 200 watermelons this morning. They are really sweet and might be some of the last ones of the season.
Shirley : Well, I think we have room for about 40 of them. And maybe I can make a stand out front to entice people to make an impulse buy on such a hot day.
Chris : Great! I'll pick out the best ones for you and stack them wherever you want them. Who can resist sweet, juicy watermelons, right?
Shirley : Wait. I need to know the price first. I remember how expensive your beans were in the spring. I don't want a repeat of that argument.
Chris : Come on, Shirley! You know how the weather has been. We had no rain for more than a month, which meant I had to water my fields every day. That isn't cheap.
Shirley : Stop beating around the bush, Chris. Just give me the bad news.
Chris : It isn't that bad, trust me. At four dollars a melon, you can still make quite a profit.
Shirley : Wow! That's a little steep. You know, if I don't sell them all before they go bad, I'll have to literally eat my losses.
Chris : Since you're my favorite customer, I'll give you 25 cents off. Does that work for you?
Shirley : It's a deal! But I'm only going to take 30 melons off your hands. Take it or leave it.
