Jamaica : Port royal seafood festival



Grace : Look at the crowds! I thought a seafood festival would be a more subdued experience. You know, a dozen tents with different styles of fish for sale.

Manny : Not the port royal seafood festival! This is Jamaica's signature food festival. That's why so many famous people are here.

Grace : Well, since I'm not from Jamaica, I have no idea who these so-called famous people are. Do you mean like that guy with the funny cowboy hat?

Manny : Yeah, he's the TV news anchor. And at this festival he's acting as the head judge in the celebrity shrimp cook-off. See all those people on that stage making various gourmet dishes? They're all famous around here.

Grace : They must be famous- look at the crowd they've attracted!

Manny : Well, they're mostly here to see ziggy Marley, Bob Marley's son, perform later. But he's also competing in the cook-off. I take my hat off to him for donating his time for this event.

Grace : Oh, right! I have a couple of his albums. But all this talk about shrimp is making me hungry. Let's get some food because my stomach is rumbling.

Manny : Sure. The lines are over there. But make sure you get in the right line, because they only serve one kind of food in each one.

Grace : I see. Hmm... I'm in the mood for jerk shark steak and an ice-cold Red Stripe beer. 

Manny : Make it two! It's my treat.

Grace : Someone's got deep pockets today! Thanks! how about you go get the beer over there and I'll wait here for fish?
