What Being in Space Does to the Human Body  우주에 머물면 겪는 신체 변화

[Power Dialog]

Did you see the article about the astronaut who stayed in space for two years?

Yeah, it said he lost a lot of bone density and muscle mass because he didn't have the pull of gravity for his body to work against.

In the interview, he said he felt like a baby trying to hold its head up by itself when he got back to earth.

And to top it off, he was exposed to a lot of radiation. It was the same as flying 10,000 times between Los Angeles and New York.

It sounds like a lot of risk across the board.

Yeah, but he didn't just sit there suffering in space. He worked out about 90 minutes a day to fight the effects of weightlessness.

After reading that, i'm of the minds about ever becoming an astronaut, that's for sure.

[Power Note]

1. to top it off - to add information to something as emphasis or finality.

A: I heard out company is laying off 200 people!

B: Yeah, and to top it off, most are being replaced by robots.

2. across the board - applying to every part of something

전반적으로, 전면적으로, 일률적으로

A: Did you hear about the pay increases effective next month?

B: Yeah, it's going to be a 5 percent raise across the board.

The new vacation policy applies to everyone across the board.

3. of two minds - simultaneously holding two opposing belief or opinions

결심이 서지 않는, 마음을 못 정하는, 망설이는

A: What do you think about the trend of wearing pants with short legs?

B: I'm of two minds about it, because when that fashion fades, you have to buy new pants.

The woman was of two minds about dating a very handsome man who didn't have a job.
