Taking work on vacation

Amber : Jake, why is your computer bag in the back of the car?

Jake : Oh, yeah, that. I forgot to mention that Mr. Lisbon expects me to finish the report I've been working on while we're in Florida. It's no big deal.

Amber : No big deal? We're spending a week on the beach and we agreed to leave all electronic devices in the hotel room. But I assumed it would only be our phones and tablets.

Jake : Come on, honey, you know how my boss is. He expects everyone to be team players twenty-four seven. And remember, I'm next in line for a promotion.

Amber : This is just like you, Jake! Last year you had to fly out to California two days after me because of Mr. Lisbon. And you fed me the same line about being next in line for a promotion.

Jake : No, Amber, it's different this time. My personnel reviews were the highest in my department and Mr. Lisbon took me out to lunch just yesterday to thank me for my efforts.

Amber : Can't you see how you're being played? He was just buttering you up so you would agree to work while on vacation.

Jake : Could it be that just jealous because I have so much responsibility in my job and that my boss sees me as a valuable asset?

Amber : Okay, now I think you're getting carried away. Let's just start driving before I have a change of heart and go to my parent's house instead. By myself!

Jake : Well, you'll be eating your words when I'm promoted to junior vice president next month.

Amber : Yeah, and I'll be promoted to chief astronaut at NASA! Let's just go.
