Our house was burglarized!
Carl : The last two weeks in the Bahamas was great, but there's truly no place like home!
Yvonne : Oh my god! Look at our living room! It looks like a hurricane went through here. We've been robbed!
Carl : Stay calm, honey. I'll call the police while you look around. But don't touch anything because they might have left fingerprints.
Yvonne : Seeing our house like this makes my blood run cold. I think I need to sit down and let it sink in for a few minutes.
Carl : Yeah, just relax while we wait for the detectives to get here. But I have to warn you in advance that the burglary cases they solve are few and far between. We'll most likely be dealing with insurance agents next.
Yvonne : This is horrible! The TV is gone, along with the grandfather clock we bought in Switzerland last year. Did you remember to add that to our insurance coverage?
Carl : Yeah, we're covered for it. But, you know, that is such a unique clock that we have a good chance of recovering it if they try to sell it anywhere around here.
Yvonne : Right! Maybe this won't end so badly after all. We have serial numbers for all the major appliances and pictures of everything of value.
Carl : Aren't you glad I took my laptop on vacation now? Still, I could kick myself for not getting a home security system.
<knock, knock, knock>
Yvonne : I think the police are here.
Carl : I'll talk to the detectives and you go get on the horn with our insurance agent. Okay?
