군대에서 휴가 나온 친구를 만난 바바라

바바라 : 빌리야, 너 살이 많이 빠진 것 같아.

빌리 : 맞아. 규칙적인 생활을 하니까 이렇게 됐어.

바바라 : 언제 제대해?

빌리 : 내년 3월에.

바바라 : 그러니까 앞으로 4개월 더 복무해야 한다는 거네.

빌리 : 그렇지. 3월 2일이 오기나 하려는지 모르겠다.

바바라 : 우리 나가자. 내가 좋은 식당에서 저녁 사 줄게.

"serve"


군대에서 '복무하다'라는 말은 serve입니다. 그리고 '제대하다'는 get discharged라고 하고요. 군대를 다녀왔는지 물을 때는 Did you serve in the army?라고 하고, 군대를 언제 다녀왔는지를 물을 때는 When did you serve in the army?라고 하면 됩니다. 그리고 제대한 때를 말하려면, <I got discharged 언제.>라고 하면 됩니다.
