미란다 : 포르투갈에서는 보통 어떤 생선을 먹어요?

로이 : 제가 듣기로는 주로 대구나 정어리를 먹는다더라고요.

미란다 : 아, 이 사진 좀 봐요. 이건 대구 같아 보이는데, '바깔라우'라고 하네요.

로이 : 그건 소금에 절인 대구예요.

미란다 : 그 사람들 고등어는 안 먹나요? 고등어에 DHA가 많거든요.

로이 : 잘 모르겠어요. 노르웨이가 고등어로 유명한 것 같아요, 그렇죠?

Roy : I heard they usually eat cod or sardines.

Miranda : Oh, look at this picture. It looks like a cod, but it's called Bacalau.

Roy : It's a cod preserved in salt.

Miranda : Don't they eat mackerel? Mackerel contains lots of DHA.

Roy : I don't know. I think Norway is famous for mackerel, right?

"preserved in salt"

소금이나 설탕에 절이는 것을 표현할 때 preserve를 써 보세요. 음식이나 요리 다음에 preserved in salt를 이러서 쓰면 소금에 절인 음식이라는 말이 되고, preserved in sugar를 이어서 쓰면 설탕에 절인 음식이나 요리를 가르키는 말이 됩니다.
