Tidying Up and Sparking Joy  설레지 않으면 버려라

[Power Dialog]

What did you do this weekend?

I binge-watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Then I started organizing my apartment.

You actually look pretty relaxed today, like a weight has been lifted.

You don't know the half of it. That slow really helped fight my tendency to hoard things. I only kept the things that spark joy in my life, as Marie teaches.

I can't picture you clutching each item to your chest, thanking it, and letting it go.

Well, it's part of the process, and let me tell you, it really works.

Maybe I'll give it a try next weekend.

[Power Note]

1. tidy up - to remove clutter and organize a place

A: Are you going to play soccer after work tonight?

B: No, my wife needs me to help her tidy up before her parents arrive.

* Katelyn always tidies up her apartment before she leaves for work.

2. You don't know the half of it - You don't know all the information.

A: I heard the president of the company got fired for embezzlement!

B: It was way worse than that. You don't know the half of it!

* If you think aliens don't exist, you don't know the half of it!

3. Let me tell you - a phrase used to emphasize a statement

A: Let me tell you, if I see her today, I'm going to ask Jane out on a date.

B: Don't get too excited. She's happily married!

* Let me tell you, life was easier before all these electronic gadgets.
