Playing the same sappy song over and over

Anna : Just listen to the lyrics. <sigh> It totally describes my breakup with Tommy.

Paul : This song is about a woman lost her lover to the sea! Your boyfriend cheated on you and in dating his high school sweetheart again. It's a little different.

Anna : Well, I think the song is a metaphor for loss. I think his new girlfriend is the sea and I'm the boat...

Paul : Snap out of it! Turn off this sappy song before I force you to listen to Christmas music for a week straight!

Anna : Oh, Christmas! That was the best week ever. Tommy took me to see "The Nutcracker" on Broadway and we went ice-skating at Rockefeller Center. <sigh>

Paul : I know things are really rough, but it's only been a few days - it will get better. Remember - it's always darkest before the dawn.

Anna : No, I'm never going to find love again. I'm going to grow old by myself and no one will ever care about me. <sigh>

Paul : Only if you keep playing this stupid song! Now turn off the song, get some shoes on, and let's go have some nachos and beer.

Anna : Well, okay. Nachos and beer are how you and I always celebrated the end of exams back in college. It's really comfort food for me.

Paul :  Exactly. We have great memories together, too. See? You have lots of people who love you.

Anna : Yeah, I guess you're right! Hold on. Let me delete that stupid song from my MP3 player. There! Now I can move on.
