Eating for Health  건강을 위한 단식

[Power Dialog]

Nancy, I'm going to do a three-day water fast starting on Friday morning. Do you want to do it with me?

Isn't that going to extremes? It can't be healthy to eat nothing for three days!

A Japanese biologist won the Nobel Prize for his research proving fasting is good for the body.

What makes it so great?

It resets your immune system, boosts whilte blood cell production, and cleans out old cells. And you'll even lose body fat. Basically, it helps fine-tune your body.

Sounds incredible! I'll give it a go. What do I have to do between now and Friday to prepare for the fast?

Come on, I'll explain it to you over soup and salad. I've done it before. It's way easy.

[Power Note]

1. go to extremes - to take drastic steps in order to reach a goal

(원하는 바를 얻고자) 극단적인 방법을 취하다

A: My wife says I have to pull up the entire rug because the dog peed on it.

2. fine-tune something - to make small alterations in order to improve something

미세 조정을 하다 (살짝 고쳐서 더 좋게 만들 때 쓰는 표현)

B: I know. I've been fine-tuning my recipe all day, but I can't figure it out.

* The software engineer fine-tuned the program so it wouldn't crash anymore.

3. be way easy - to be extremely effortless

수월하다, 아주 간단하다

A: Are you good at geometry? I need help studying for my exam.

B: Geometry has always been way easy for me. I'll be glad to help you.
