Becoming a barista

Amy : Welcome to barista training, Seth. Are you ready to make a perfect cappuccino?

Seth : I'm really excited, Ms. Pierce. I've loved coffee since I was 13, so it seems like a natural progression for me to learn how to make it properly.

Amy : Call me Amy. After all, I'm only a few years older than you.

Seth : Gotcha, Amy. This is  my first job, so I don't really know what the protocol is for addressing one's superior.

Amy : Well, I must give you a high score for politeness! I hope that attitude rubs off on your co-workers. Anyway, let's start with the espresso machine, shall we?

Seth : Wow! This machine looks pretty complex. I hope I can get the hang of it quickly.

Amy : It should be a piece of cake. Watch. First you remove the filter like this. Then you pack the ground, roasted espresso in like this. If you pack it in hard, it should come out really strong.

Seth : Like this? And should I make sure there isn't any ground espresso on the edge of the filter? I think it might overflow into the coffee, right?

Amy : You're right again. Seth! I think you've got it!

Seth : Thanks, Amy. Now can you show me how to make the perfect foam?

Amy : You're a real eager beaver, are you? Okay, let's get the low fat milk out of the fridge...
