Johannesburg : Nickname for Johannesburg

Cecil : So, how do you like Jozi so far?

Janice : How do I like what? Jozi?

Cecil : Jozi. Johannesburg. It's nickname for the city, since the full name is so long. Nobody who lives here calls it by its full name.

Janice : I thought its nickname was "Jo-burg." 

Cecil : Well, it has several nicknames; Jozi, Jo-burg,eGoli, which means City of Gold, Joni, Joeys, and even JHB. Oh, and marketers sometimes call it "the Manhattan of Africa."

Janice : There's a lot to take in. But if I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb as a tourist, I'll pick one to use. Hmm..I kinda like the way JHB sounds. 

Cecil : Haha! That's good. Other than your American accent, nobody will have a clue you aren't a local.

Janice : Well, this city seems like such a melting pot of African and Western cultures that it shouldn't matter too much. There even seems to be some Indian and Chinese influences here. 

Cecil : They seem to have an open-door policy when it comes to immigration. It's a truly global city, if you will.

Janice : With that in mind, what would you like for lunch? I saw a French bistro, an Italian restaurant, an American fast food place, and a small African place. 

Cecil : Despite it's international appeal, I think we should eat like the locals at least a few more times while we're here, don't you?
